Camlow 2013 Russian River Pinot Noir
The 2013 vintage was exceptional in the Green Valley
region of the Russian River Valley. The cool Spring
and lack of frost encouraged the vines to grow evenly
as the weather and soil warmed. Great conditions
at bloom and our usual foggy summer resulted in
a long growing season with good physiological
ripeness without high sugars. The wine reflects this
outstanding vintage and is a classic example of the
terroir of this special place.
TASTING NOTES:
This pinot noir leans toward the elegant side of style.
There is a lovely floral scent from the combination
of new oak we use and a hint of forest floor. Baked
cherry, strawberry and a touch of rhubarb from the
clone 23 along with the acidity and tannins from
the clone 828 are first to make an impression on
the palate. The cofermentation of these clones adds
darker flavors of plums and currants to fill out the
mid-palate, leading to a long, silky finish. Expect
this wine to age 5 to 7 years with potential to go
longer for the patient oenophile.
